Success is always best shared with those who walked alongside of you, proudly looking on at the person they knew was destined to be great and do great things.
It’s a beautiful feeling to have people who are behind you in every attempt, failure and accomplishment. I can’t imagine not having that support system, the backbone that keeps me up and moving. I know that not everyone is fortunate to have a team of cheerleaders on their side.
There have been moments when I had to be my own cheerleader. I gave myself the motivation and support I needed (or thought I needed) from others and it felt really good.
I read an article, actually I’ve read a few, that centered around family members or friends not being supportive of one’s writing journey. Husbands were complaining about their wives “playing” on their phones and laptops all day, friends were commenting on the lack of money the art of writing would bring to the table and family members couldn’t wrap their minds around writing being a full-time career. The support was either non-existent or present with a disingenuous smile to hide the disgust or disdain for not following a more traditional life path.
When you’re met with non-supportive individuals, it’s time to be your own support system and show up…
