I’m Glad I Didn’t Peak In High School…Or College

A short memoir for those who will peak later in life.

This is for the dreamers and misfits who have peaked later in life compared to their high school and college counterparts.

I strongly believe that not everyone has had an awkward phase in high school. Some were blessed with a Glow-Up early on in life while the rest of us avoided every mirror and photo-op that came our way.

Like almost every high school in the world, we had our cliques. The popular kids consisted of jocks, cheerleaders, class clowns (needed for pure entertainment for the jocks and cheerleaders) and anyone else who was seen as pretty, hot or any other label above average.

Then there were your “nerds” which consisted of smart kids, artsy kids, band kids and the like.

The rest were scattered amongst those two groups or formed into their own little group nobody really cared about. I guess you would call that group “The Ghosts” because they were around but never really seen.

In high school you were either the perfect piece of the puzzle or you jumped around from one group to the next trying to find the perfect fit.

I was the jumper.

My close friends were part of the “popular” crew because they had personalities that…
