I vowed to never write about Medium on its own platform but I’ll take it as part of my newfound journey and the opportunity to document it.
I don’t know about you but I actually enjoy reading articles about Medium, especially being a newbie on the platform. I see a lot of articles titled, “How I Made (insert amount of money) in (insert number of months)” or “Follow These Tips To Make (insert amount of money) in (insert number of months).”
I live for these articles. Including the ones about Medium’s stats.
I’ve only checked my stats on Medium once and that was out of pure curiosity. I was so excited to see that I had made my first $0.17 on the platform that it heightened my motivation to continue writing. I treated my little cents as if they were a check with lots of zeros on them…
That was weeks ago.
I haven’t checked my stats since then because, quite honestly, I have no interest in giving it so much of my energy and time.
I’d be lying if I said that money isn’t a factor on why I’m writing on this platform. Everybody loves money, right? And getting paid for your gift is like the cherry on top of a perfect hot fudge sundae so why not admit it?
