When Is It Too Early To Put Up Your Christmas Decor?

I promise you…I am not The Grinch.

Seriously.

When is the best time to finally dust off that inflatable Frosty of yours and untangle those Christmas lights all over again?

This seems like an ongoing debate during the holidays. I would even say the most entertaining debate.

Personally, I try and wait as long as possible to decorate for Christmas. I’m talking no fancy wreath on the door, no animated train set circling around the Christmas tree and no cute and festive stockings UNTIL December 1st.

Some people, like my neighbors and my co-workers, like to decorate for Christmas the week before December. My own family decorates the day before Thanksgiving.

I am very Type A.

Although I’ve worked on my perfectionistic ways, there’s something about dates that make me feel like I need to stay on top of things at that particular time. The time is set which means that nothing changes.

If Christmas is in December than there is no decorating until December 1st. Decorating before is too early and decorating after is way too late. That’s just how I am.

I have neighbors and co-workers who decorate for the holidays weeks an advance, some who join in a few days before…
